Bikash Objectives

1) To educate and develop children, especially those in difficult circumstances:

To prevent, to detect early on, and to successfully intervene in the community based rehabilitation of physically and mentally challenged children.
To establish and run a special school for children suffering from cerebral palsy, mental retardation, autism, multiple disabilities and hearing impairment.
To counsel children with different abilities, their parents and community members about coping with their disability, social integration and vocational training.
To prepare children with mild to moderate disabilities for integration into normal schools.

2) To empower women through the formation of self-help groups:

To promote gender equality
To educate members on nutrition, general and reproductive health
To organize training on income-generating activites

3) To specifically assist rural poor women through self-help groups:

To take up income-generating activities for their economic empowerment
To ensure their food security

4) To create awareness among community members about the importance of:

safe handling of drinking water
safe disposal of waste water
personal and food hygiene
domestic and environmental sanitation

5) To develop the tribal community, especially the primitive groups

6) To reduce district levels of:

malnutrition
rate of infant mortality
rate of maternal mortality

7) To facilitate the establishment of small to medium enterprises and encourage entrepreneurship through people’s action programmes in:

rural and cottage industries
animal and poultry farming
agriculture
other micro-enterprises
